Rave Run Recap
On October 11, 2021 the UDance community continued our in-person fundraising efforts with our annual Rave Run! Rave Run is our annual 5k which takes place at the University of Delaware on the Green every fall. The event is a glow-in-the-dark theme with a DJ, merch, raffles, and more!
We kicked off this event a couple weeks prior with a Luminary Bag competition. Luminary Bags are white, paper bags that student organizations decorate in honor of B+ Heroes, someone in their life affected by cancer, or in support of UDance and The B+ Foundation in general. These bags are then illuminated with battery-operated candles and line the course for Rave Run! Our competition entailed purchasing, decorating, and returning Luminary Bags and the organization with the most participation won! This was a great way to get everyone excited and involved with Rave Run, as well as help us line and illuminate the course on the day-of.
The first 200 people to register for Rave Run received a free T-Shirt, designed by a member of our Digital Communications Team on the UDance Executive Board. These neon shirts helped brighten the event and add to our glow-in-the-dark theme!
To amplify the glow-in-the-dark theme, we also had a face paint station, where participants could get face and body paint to get excited and spirited for the run. In addition to this station, we also held a table with raffles including prizes like UDance Merchandise, Orange Theory Fitness Classes, and Oh-So-Cycle classes, a table to buy UDance Merchandise and show off your UDance Spirit even after the event ends, and a snack and drink table to keep participants energized.
B+ Hero Teyton, paired with the UDance Executive Board, inspired the runners, walkers, and supporters present by speaking before the run began. He shared his personal story and experience with childhood cancer, and provided a touching reminder of why we participate in UDance.
Our 221 participants kicked off their 5K at Brown Lab and completed 4 laps around the course to cross the finish line in front of Gore Hall. Participants were cheered on by members of the UDance community decked out with neon signs, paint, and glowsticks to encourage them along the course.
We are so excited to be able to hold our annual events, like Rave Run again this year. We appreciate all of the participation in Rave Run and Luminary Bags and look forward to bringing the community together for more fundraising events.
